We are part of the Department of Physiology in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

We strive to understand how poisonous animals resist their own neurotoxins, elucidate how ion channels work, and develop a new generation of pharmacological tools to modulate these essential molecular machines that govern brain activity, sensory perception, movements, and cardiac rhythms.

Our ultimate goal is to advance the prevention and treatment of channelopathies—a diverse family of ion channel-related diseases.

We pursue this mission in a collaborative scientific environment where researchers and trainees from all backgrounds are welcomed, respected, supported, and celebrated.
